Through research, while treating rosacea with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), Dr. Toyos found that he was also improving Dry Eye Symptoms. Dr. Toyos then became the recipient of an ASCRS Research Grant for his work with IPL and Dry Eye Syndrome. He has data showing that Intense Pulsed Light works in 93% of patients in clearing Meibomian Gland Dysfunction and Dry Eye Syndrome. Most patients need fewer or no drops after receiving treatment. This treatment is helpful for those patients with dry eye problems so severe that they are not candidates for Lasik. By getting their dry eye symptoms under control first, they can then undergo Lasik Surgery.

We are often asked about the difference between th TOYOS IPL and other IPL treatments offered by cosmetic clinics. TOYOS IPL is the only one which is safe for treatment near the eye and the machine is configured for optimum efficacy and safety for ocular problems. This is combined with a specialized treatment of the eyelid glands by our Doctors after the IPL treatment. |
The Mayo clinic is charging $500 USD for the TOYOS IPL treatment . We are able to now offer this at a significantly reduced rate. At our office , each treatment is about $250 except for the first which is $500. A total of 4 treatments are required about 1 month apart. You may require some maintenance treatment 6 months later. Dr Deans has been personally trained by Dr Toyos who came to Windsor to treat our first patients. The machine we use is also the same machine used at the Mayo Clinic, which was developed by Dr Toyos. We only treat patients residing in Canada. |
